Term 4!

Hello! Kia Ora! Howdy! Talofa!

This term we have been super busy! We have been learning about reuse, recycle and papatuanuku (the environment).

We have been creating things for our school market. We were using things we found around the school. We went into our school forest and picked up sticks, leaves, and flowers. We used these materials to make things for the market. We also were allowed to use matierals we already had. In our class we had old magazines and paper. Our teacher and teacher aid had old jbibit pieces, tinsil, and other materials.

Have you ever ever done a market with reusable materials?

Makahika

Kia Ora!

Last week we went to Makahika! When we were there we went on the high ropes course, the low ropes course, we made fire and cooked marshmallows, then we did an egg throw. The egg throw was not with real eggs. We were given materials to make a contraption to hold a water balloon. When we dropped the balloon it had to survive.

It was a very good day. Such a hot day and we had so much fun.

Have you ever been to Makahika?

How to make Fairy Bread

Kia Ora!

We have been working on procedure writing.

As a class we made fairy bread.

First we had to write down how to make fairy bread, then our teacher made it for us. If we were wrong we didn’t get to eat any!

Have you ever made fairy bread before or done procedure writing?

Thank you

  3. Take the lid off the butter. Use your knife to get some butter and spread the butter on the bread.

  5. If you want to, you can cut the bread into triangles.
  6. Enjoy and eat.

Thank you

Room 4

Kia Ora! Talofa lava! Hello!

We have been learning how to write about procedure writing. We started looking at using materials, equipment, and then the method. We are going to make Fairy Bread. Our teacher said that if she can make it then, we get to eat it.

The challenging part of this was to make sure we have things in the right order and we were specific.

Have you ever learned how to write a procedure? If so, can you tell us what you wrote about?

Bye for now,
Room4

Last day of Term 1

Kia Ora!

On the last day of Term 1, it was Principal Mrs Rachel Kings last day. She had been at our school for 14 years! Students in room 4 had been learning how to write letters, poems and other art things to give to Mrs King. We learned how to write cinquain poem, 3D flowers, pompom flowers and letters.
Mrs King visited each class during the day to play games and spend time with everyone.

When she came to Room 4, we presented her with the flowers, cards and poems. Then we played bingo. Mrs King won quite a few times which the class was so excited for.

When making the flowers, the most challenging part was trying to fold on the line when there were no instructions. Luckily TA Ruth was able to work it out and show the students how to do it all.

As you can see in the pictures, the students presented Mrs King with all their hard work and the gifts. they had made.

On each of the students blogs, they have published their poem that they wrote for Mrs King.

If you go to the left-hand side of our page, you can click on the student’s names to find their work.

Are you able to write your own cinquain poem?

Thank you!
