Last day of Term 1

Kia Ora!

On the last day of Term 1, it was Principal Mrs Rachel Kings last day. She had been at our school for 14 years! Students in room 4 had been learning how to write letters, poems and other art things to give to Mrs King. We learned how to write cinquain poem, 3D flowers, pompom flowers and letters.
Mrs King visited each class during the day to play games and spend time with everyone.

When she came to Room 4, we presented her with the flowers, cards and poems. Then we played bingo. Mrs King won quite a few times which the class was so excited for.

When making the flowers, the most challenging part was trying to fold on the line when there were no instructions. Luckily TA Ruth was able to work it out and show the students how to do it all.

As you can see in the pictures, the students presented Mrs King with all their hard work and the gifts. they had made.

On each of the students blogs, they have published their poem that they wrote for Mrs King.

If you go to the left-hand side of our page, you can click on the student’s names to find their work.

Are you able to write your own cinquain poem?

Thank you!

Hello! Hi! Talofa! Kia Ora! Bula! Konenchiwa! Bonjour

Today we have been doing a Digital Dig.

We have learned how to control our device.

To make a copy of the document our teacher gave us, we clicked on file, make a copy, entire presentation, we deleted copy of and put our initials in, we went onto our drives and put it in our folders.

Once we were on our new slide show we started the digital dig.

Below, we have commented what we made for our digital dig.

Week 8

Hi! Kia Ora! Hello! Talofa!

This week the Levin Fire trick came to our school. We were lucky enough to have a look at it.

We have also been baking for the market which is today. We made Minecraft slice and rice bubble crackle. Today we are making sherbet.

We have also been practising songs and dances for the end of year assembly.

Term 4 Week 5

Hi, Talofa, Kia Ora, Hello, Ola,

This week we have been doing  Athletics. Our class did shot put and discuss. It was a new experience for some of us.

We looked at how to be safe around traintracks, We also found song that goes with it.

Stop, look, Listen, Think

We also looked at how to use a zebra crossing, Stop Lean and look.

At our school we have a Kea crossing. We found out there were 3 types of crossings.

The other thing we did was road safety. We looked at the different road signs that we may see in the town.

We have a market coming up on the 1st of December, We looked up different recipes to make the different kinds of food.

We then wrote letters to our whanau/friends to invite them to the market.

For the Market we have also been learning about the community. This includes fire fighters, and ambulance officers. For art, we made fire and drew ambulances.

Week 7!

Kia Ora!

We have had an exciting week! We have been getting ready for the market. Room 4 are making Minecraft slice, rice bubble crackle, and sherbet lollipops.

We read a story called  “The Smelly Giant.” We liked this story. It was about how a giant had a whole village but because he was smelly he wasn’t allowed to be around them. But he then saved the day and saved all their lives. It was a very good story.

We have been looking at language features; Onomatopeia, Simile and Metaphors. We found an awesome video/song to help us remember similies. Our teacher put our work on the wall for us to see.

As a class we wrote rules to play four square/six square. Our teacher also videoed us so we can remember what is the good way to play the game and what is against the rules on how to play. Once our video is finished, we will post about it.

Thank you

On Thursday Footsteps which is a virtual reality sports.

Has anyone else had Max from Footsteps?

Term 4! Week 1!

Hello! Talofa! Kia Ora! Hi! Malo e lele!

This week we have been soccer! We learned how to score a goal into the goal. We also learned how to dribble and trap the ball.

Some of us for maths learned area volume and perimeter. We found out that the perimeter is the outside of the shape and it is measured in cm, m, and mm. We learned about area which is measured in cm2, m2, and mm2. This uses a small 2 at the top. Then for volume this uses the small 3 at the top.

We are also doing Community for our theme this week. For the community, we are looking at who is part of the community. We looked into the police this week. We also looked up where we live, and our street names and if we could, we tried to find out how our street was named.

We started using Canva to create posters for our community hauora day.

Thank you

We have gone back to remember cybermart and remembered about hug holding. We have been practising to remember how to look after our chromes. Here are some of the slides we used to remind ourselves how to be cybersmart. We have been looking at our Digital Footprint. It was interesting to see what kind of thing each of us had been on recently.

It is also Maori language week so we have been doing Mari art. We dip the sponges in red paint then we will be outlining it in gold vivid.
